Getting Your Abbie Ready to Answer Your Phone

Here’s the good news. You don’t have to fill out a long questionnaire, sit through a training session, or get on a call with anybody. We do the homework. You just check our work.

Abbie needs to know your business the way a good office manager does…

  • Which jobs you take and which jobs you don’t.
  • What towns you cover?
  • What your after-hours fee is?
  • What’s a true emergency… and what can wait till morning?
  • Who gets the text when a real emergency comes in?
  • Where the call details should go?

Most of that’s already covered on your website. So that’s where we start.

Step One: WE Do the Research

We go through your website and any other material you’ve published about your business, and we pull out everything Abbie needs to know. Your company name, your services, your service area, your hours, your policies, the things you specialize in and the things you don’t handle. We organize all of it into a simple form, laid out in plain English.

A real person here looks over every bit of it before it ever goes to you. Nothing gets sent out on autopilot.

Step Two: You Review and Approve

We email you a link. Click it and you’ll see a page with everything we found, already filled in. Read through it. If something’s wrong, fix it right there on the page. If something’s missing, add it. If it’s all correct, you’re done reading.

There’s nothing to download and nothing to install. If you can read an email, you can do this part.

We’ll also ask for a couple of things your website won’t tell us, like the cell number that should get the text when an emergency call comes in tonight, and the email address where you want the call transcripts to land. Most shops start with the owner’s cell for the emergency texts. You can change that later once you’re comfortable.

When it looks right to you, hit approve.

Step Three: We Train Your Abbie

We take what you’ve approved and use it to build your own version of Abbie. She’ll answer with your company name, know your services and your policies, and use your rules to decide whether a caller needs somebody out tonight or can wait till morning.

If a caller asks about something you don’t do, she’ll know that too, and she won’t book a job you don’t want.

Step Four: You Give Her a Test Drive

Before anything goes live, you call your own Abbie and pretend to be a customer. Tell her you’ve got water pouring out from under the sink at midnight. Tell her your water heater’s making a funny noise. Ask her a question about your service area. See how she handles it.

If something doesn’t sound right, tell us and we’ll fix it. She doesn’t go live until you’re happy with her.

Step Five: Forward Your After-Hours Line

This is the only technical thing you’ll do, and it’s something your phone company or your phone already lets you do. When you close up for the night, you forward your line to Abbie. From then on she picks up every call, sorts out what’s going on, and sends the right information to the right place.

That’s it. You’re live.

What If Something Changes Later?

Businesses change. You raise your after-hours fee, you add a service, you start covering a new town. Just send us an email or a text with the change and we’ll update your Abbie for you. You don’t have to log into anything or learn any software.

Why We Do It This Way

You’re running a business… the last thing you need is another piece of software to figure out. So we made setup about as easy as we could make it. We do the research, you check it, you approve it, you forward your phone. Abbie handles the rest.
